#1: TILLAMOOK

One thing I love discovering about the Pacific Northwest is a new knowledge of Native American lingo. If I had to make a completely uneducated guess, I would say that approximately 4 out of 5 proper nouns in Washington come from the Native American heritage. This makes things like city names, rivers, casinos, anything really, difficult, yet extremely fun to pronounce. Today's Native American word is Tillamook. Pronounced (I think) "till-a-muck", Tillamook is a now nationally known dairy company, which produces anything a lactos-intolerant person would avoid, including butter (seen here from our Thanksgiving day preparations) and bowl-licking-good ice cream. Located in the top left corner of Oregon, Tillamook Dairy is a true staple in the Pacific Northwest! More difficult-to-pronounce Native American lingo coming your way soon!

  1. The coastal life is so peaceful and enjoyable for everyone to be away from home for quite some days.
